The establishment of the Faculty of Law at the University of Jambi has been initiated since 1961 by educational leaders, community leaders and the Jambi regional government. The business was officially successful on April 1, 1963 through PTIP Ministerial Decree No. 25 of 1963, dated March 23, l963 designated as a Faculty. Since its establishment, the Faculty of Law, Jambi University was led by a Dean who was responsible to the Chancellor. At present, the Dean is assisted by 3 (three) Deputy Deans on a day-to-day basis, the Deputy Dean for Academic, Cooperation and Information Technology. Then the Deputy Dean for Civil Service and Finance Administration, and Deputy Dean for Student Affairs.
Since its establishment until 2014 the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Jambi University, Prof. H. Z. Ansyori Ahmad, S.H., Prof. H. Idris Djakfar, S.H., Prof. H. Fuad Bafadhal, S.H., Prof. H. Rozali Abdullah, S.H., Muhammad Zaini, S.H., H. Djalaluddin, S.H., Ansorullah, S.H., M.H., Taufik Yahya, S.H., M.H. and currently led by Dr. Helmi, S.H., M.H.
As a Faculty that has been established since 1963, the Faculty of Law of the University of Jambi has and will continue to play a role through the activities of the Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi in the fields of law namely teaching, research and community service. Through qualified graduates, Faculty of Law alumni have played a role in the community and governance at the national and regional levels.
